ThinCan DBE63

The DBE63 is a new product that uses the AMD Geode LX design found in the DBE62 with a VIA VT6122 Gigabit Ethernet controller. The main differences from the DBE62 are a DDR1 SO-DIMM memory module slot instead of soldered on-board RAM, an IDE CompactFlash slot instead of NAND flash, plus the addition of an RTC battery and an audio line out connector.

Driving the DBE63

  • The DBE63 is covered by the same Linux and X.org drivers as the DBE61.
  • The VIA VT6122 network controller is supported by the Linux kernel module via-velocity or VIA Linux driver velocityget available from VIA Arena.

Booting the DBE63

The DBE63 benefited from the Coreboot development efforts made for the DBE61 and other GeodeLX based boards. Initial support for this upcoming product has already been contributed to Coreboot-v3 behind incomplete boards choice (CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL).

12V output board

Artec has designed an GPIO output expansion board for ThinCan. The board connects to LPC header and the software can mux the LPC data pins to GPIO outputs to control the board. The board has 12V input and 4 NPN transistors to switch 4 outputs (negative terminal is swiched). The board is installed as one side panel of the box; it has 5 detachable 2-pole screw terminals.
